Lucky thar, finds the best ways to build on any game :)

Market - LC. When you has LC = LCwhore for about 200lc and farm everything :)

Waiting for server to be reset, would be a good time to use my 'guide' and test it

Absolutely true. You don't need horsemen before you can attack your active neighbours. But you also do NOT need any other units bar 100-150 swords to farm until then. ;)

I agree that the market first thing it might be a good idea. however, I disagree about the lack of need of other troops but swords. Some slingers can be very useful in upping the strength of the villas around you while your swords farm. a few phalanx close to the end of BP will help a lot against a surprise attack. and both would ballance the stone a little.

also, i am not sure as I did not do it that way, but at first glance, using market first which is a strong delay no matter how pleasant it looks, there might be the case that LC are not ready and plenty. At that moment, some slingers and especialy phalanx would help clearing the 6 sword noobs.

somehow I still have some doubts. And those are mainly the hight cost of 5 levels of cave, especialy the huge silver cost and also the fear that Thargoran did that while other people were older in the game and needed stone. This time, everybody will sell stone. not good. I still say the cave-market positions shuld be swiched or at least the cave levels requested for market reduced.

Actually, a lot of that high silver cost is easily attainable. Most buildings with the exception of the cave cost much more wood and clay than silver, and your swords cost marginally more wood than silver.

I found myself with a huge silver surplus, before the beta reset, and on the german version trying the route you are proposing Gicusan. I ended up needing the cave just so I would have a place to stash excess silver.

If you go the slinger --> archer route early you will find that you quickly reduce all of your farming villages morale to a point that forces you to idle your farmers anyway. No reason to waste resources on better farmers, when you can't farm the villages anyway. Morale reduction seems to be directly correlated to how much booty you haul away from a farm.

You can get rid of most of your excess stone via the market to the farming villages, you don't really need to worry about what other players are putting on the market.

Finally take a closer look at each unit's strength's and weaknesses. We know all the players are going to have a stash of swords, and probably some archers at the end of BP on defense. Slingers are almost worthless against these units, and hoplites are only marginally better than slingers at attacking those defensive units.

Thargoran, how close to a temple are you at the point you research LC?

IIRC I had a temple shortly before researching/building Horsemen. Or at least not much later risen to a level to cast spells. Hera's miracles (+ ress and/or -50% build time for troops) are a nice benefit for building up your cavalry.

regarding the market I like it that it is so far away to reach

main reason

1. Pushing

This is a very well thought way to avoid the creation of 100s of multi accounts with the sole reason to push a main account. If everyone would have at start the ability to build a market , pushing and multi creation would come in play.

Now with that , you could also look at the farming. The mood/strenght and sharing with other island players make it pointless for people to use auto farm scripts.

If you start to dissect the game you will see that it is pretty well balanced qua resource production and that it protects fair players.
