Island Quest Update

Here you can find a more detailed version of what we've updated so far about Island Quests.

General
  • In order to account for very far progressed players and their needs, we have added an additional, new game stage difficulty that is part of several calculations in the game. This means you will face more challenging island quests in later game stages but will also receive better rewards in return.
  • Island quests difficulty is now determined by taking the progress of your biggest city on an island into consideration. Previously the average points of all towns on that island was used, keeping the difficulty and rewards relatively low.

Rewards (General)

  • Coins of War/Wisdom reward items received through in-game events and login bonus:
    • Calculations have been adjusted.
    • Now scale with world speed.
    • Changes do not apply for rewards gained through external sources (Shop, mails, etc.).
    • Changes do not apply to Coins gained through Island Quests (separate calculations, see below).
  • Effects granting favor or resources have been adjusted, amounts received have been streamlined and adjusted through the item levels.
  • Unit movement speed effects now last 60 minutes per level instead of 30 minutes.
  • Unit reinforcement effects have had their base values adjusted slightly and scale better with world speed and and game stage.

Island Quest rewards
  • Goal: all rewards should remain equally valuable across all game stages.
  • Coins of war and wisdom received through Island Quests now scale with world
  • Resource boost – several levels of boost effects are introduced with higher boost levels (250%-1000% per town).
  • Build time reduction:
    • Previous effect is replaced with rare and epic versions.
    • Rare or epic boost is determined by player progression.
    • Building times are reduced for all construction processes, even ones started before the activation of the effect.
  • Unit recruitment time reduction:
    • Previous effect is replaced with rare and epic versions.
    • Rare or epic boost is determined by player progression.
    • Recruitment times are reduced for all processes, even ones started before the activation of the effect.
  • Defense / Attack boost:
    • Added new effects – rare and epic.
    • Duration is no longer variable (12 or 24 hours).
    • Items boost by 10% / 20% respectively.
  • Unit reinforcement effects – now use the same scaling as regular rewards.
  • There are no more rewards that offer loyalty bonuses since there is no use for these in the BPV system – have been replaced with better rewards.

Island quest tasks
  • Island Quest tasks have been rebalanced, calculations have been adjusted to meet current development of the game (e.g. amount of resources required has been adjusted since you can now earn more resources in the game).
  • Additionally the following notable changes have been made:
    • Rally troops - Mythical units can be sent, population is used to determine required units instead of fixed unit numbers.
    • Attacking units:
      • World speed is added as a factor for calculation of units that need to be attacked. However, the progression is not linear (e.g. for Speed 4, 3 times as many units need to be defeated).
      • Loot is calculated differently so that every player who attacks the same island quest objective gets the same amount of loot (was: first challenger of the quest may have gotten more loot than subsequent attackers).
    • Defending:
      • World speed is added as a factor for calculation of units that need to be defended against. However, the progression is not linear (e.g. for Speed 4, 3 times as many units need to be countered).
    • Wait – Times have been adjusted (4-16 hours, depending on player progression).
    • Bear negative effects:
      • All penalties now have similar calculations (the average duration is now average 3-12h).
      • Effect % have been adjusted (production values received increase in penalty, attack & defense penalties have been reduced).
    • Tasks – attack and rally troops tasks may not appear in the same island quest anymore, allowing to have cities without land units. For defense objectives, support from other towns is still possible.
